Unison provides specialised risk management and insurance products to a selected and small group of companies within a particular market segment. This selected client base enables us to differentiate ourselves from our competitors with outstanding service.

We pride ourselves on professionalism and integrity, combined with attention to senior-level relationships. Unison's corporate broking division plans, structures and manages all corporate short-term risk financing and insurance placements.

Collectively, Unison's Corporate Broking Division manages over 1 700 locations in South Africa which employs over 90 000 staff, generating a turnover in excess of R190 billion. Unison also arranges insurance placements through correspondents within over 150 locations situated across 13 other African jurisdictions.

Unison’s specialist industry experience and market knowledge enables us to design strategies and structure programmes in a manner that creates sound coverage at competitive pricing across all clients within and beyond the borders of RSA.

Claims

Our Corporate Claims Division provides more than traditional claims support to our clients.

We have analytical information systems that enable us to reduce the ultimate cost of claims. Unison applies our skills to where they make the biggest difference to our clients and it is this focus that differentiates us.

Risk Management

Whilst each of Unison's corporate clients has its own unique culture, many risk management values and philosophies are shared. These philosophies are often much more than just an expression of leadership, diligence and integrity – they are put into business practice.

Within each company, risk management is a priority. However, it is recognised that there is no single plan that fits all organisations, and strategies differ from company to company. The risk management and control framework, programmes and priorities are all unique.

The attention given to corporate governance has benefited risk management, resulting in the implementation of prudent risk governance. Operational risk management expertise, systems and processes are shared and respond well to the unique risks currently in South Africa. We reduce risk further and group risk managers work well with and respond positively to recommendations.

Actuaries

Unison employs actuaries to determine optimum risk retention levels. We utilise a cell captive to insure a more predictable loss forecast. We also arrange catastrophe insurance outside the retention levels through a wide range of covers and markets both locally and abroad.
