What do I do in the event of a Medical Emergency?
- You need to contact the 24 hour emergency assistance provider immediately to assist you with your medical emergency and/or to manage your claim.
- The assistance provider will direct you to a suitable facility and they will provide you with a hospital admission guarantee.
- The assistance provider will need your full name, policy number, location and the nature of your claim. You will also need to indicate what type of assistance you require.
- Reverse charge calls will be accepted on the 24 hour emergency assistance number. Please check your policy document for emergency contact details.

For medical expenses that exceed R10 000, you will need to obtain the assistance company’s approval. Claim forms can be obtained on www.tic.co.za.
How will my medical costs be paid if I do not need to be admitted to Hospital?
If your out-of-hospital costs are under R10 000 you can settle these bills yourself and submit a claim on your return home. However, it is advisable to contact the assistance company for all medical claims.
To submit a Claim:
- Lodge your claim online by visiting www.tic.co.za.
- Click on Claims Procedure found on the bottom panel under Claims.
- Upload your information and supporting documentation.
- OR
- Complete a claim form.
- Attach all supporting documents.
- Email it to claims@tic.co.za
- Or fax it to 0861 222 743.
Following is a summary of the main categories and the supporting documents required:
For medical claims under R10 000:
- A completed claim form.
- A medical report from the treating physician.
- All medical receipts and/or invoices.
Cancellation/curtailment:
- A completed claim form.
- A medical report (if the claim is medically related) detailing the reason for cancellation.
- A brief medical history, should the claim be medically related.
Luggage loss:
- A completed claim form.
- An airline report detailing your loss and their contribution.
- A police report, if the loss occurred outside the airline’s jurisdiction.
- Please note: There is a limit of 25% of the insured sum for any single item of luggage or personal effects.
Travel delay/baggage delay:
- A completed claim form.
- An airline report.
- Receipts of costs incurred.
